Partnership Educators,
The Sequoia Chamber Orchestra had their first live performance in two years on Wednesday afternoon for a room full of award winners from around the county.  The student musicians performed at the highest levels and they were so impressive that I had superintendents and other personnel from around our county telling me how great they sounded and that they do not play like any middle school orchestra that they have heard.    Thanks to our music teachers who have helped to develop young musicians that love their craft and are learning to be lifelong learners of music.  It really showed in their performance.
I am inviting everyone within the partnership to come to the Grand Opening for the New Music Studies Center at Sequoia Middle School on May 6th from 5 pm to 7 pm.  We will have raffles, musical performances by RSD students as well as Shasta College Choir, String Trio, and Shasta Brass.  We will have free food and free giveaways.  Come support the grand opening and take a tour of the new facility.  Bring family and friends.
Katherine Conway shared this today;  We moved our classes in there this morning.  I just did the first Jazz Band class in the new Jazz Band room and the difference it makes to be playing in a room that's designed for that purpose is amazing.  We could hear each player so well and it sounded so good.  One student actually said, "Those solos sounded so good it brought tears to my eyes."
Hope to see you next Friday night.
