Partnership Educators,
Standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, a monument to the president who a century earlier had brought down the institution of slavery in the United States, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. shared his vision of a future in which "this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.'"
As we move into this three day weekend, let us remember why President Reagan made the third Monday of January a national holiday to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. and the dream of the American ideals for all mankind with the words of children.
