Stories of Us - April 24, 2020

Partnership Educators,
I am often asked about our three district's and what factors make them unique.  For me, it always comes down to the people and the willingness to put aside our personnel needs and just figure out how to support kids.  We are caring, committed, competent individuals that work as a team to make a difference in our community by helping our students and families.
Educators know and through our training with Capturing Kids Hearts that the conditions for learning start with an emotional connection.  Our teachers are first making checking in with students as one of the highest priorities during our calls.  A simple question "How are you doing?" lets our students know that we care enough to ask.  Thank you teachers for using your connections with kids to let them know that we care for them.   I am also very impressed with some of the interesting work and clever challenges with the content that our teachers have come up with.  These only help our students get stimulated about the work and excited to learn.   I am also hearing a great deal from some of our students about how they miss coming to school.  It is for this reason that we really want to make those emotional connections with our kids and work hard in putting extra care into the social and emotional supports in our online instructional models.    They really do have a large sense of loss.
Our counselors are connecting with families day and night to support them in these unprecedented times.  Some of our kids and families are struggling with our current situation and need the emotional support.  Thank you counseling staff for stepping up and making a difference in the lives of some of our most vulnerable.   Teachers, if you know of a student or family who is struggling please contact your administrator or counselor for support.
"We are so happy to be in the Redding Schools.   We moved here and we feel so supported and welcomed.  We love the genuine care shown towards our kids and can't say enough about how the positive recognition given to our son does for him.  Thanks for what you are doing."
This is but one example of the many empowering messages we get about what you all are doing for our families.  Be encouraged to make our moments count each day.  Reach out and support one another.
I love what we are doing and can't say enough about our wealth of staff that are stepping up each day.
Update:  No on site instruction until further notice.  Please make sure we are communicating that to our families.  We still have no plans to come back before the end of the year.  We still have hope but no indication at this point that we will.

Enjoy the weekend,
