Redding School District is proud to promote local sustainable produce within its school lunch programs. Not only do we have about 60% of our Fruits & Vegetables come from California but Redding is taking the next step when it comes to sustainability. Water conservation, and organic nutrition by growing 50% of the district lettuce supply at our local Sequoia Middle School. We have recently repurposed an unused space to house 12 Hydroponic gardens that will supply a variety of locally grown organic lettuce to the district's nutrition program and our salad bars. Hydroponic gardens consume 90% less water than the same size outdoor garden.
