Stories of Us - December 11, 2020

Partnership Educators,
Telling the story of any organization is really a tale about the heroes within it.  These are everyday people who clean up campus, build supportive instruction, feed all who come to the window, lend a listening ear, or fill out the paperwork that keeps it all rolling along.   A system such as ours is a mesh of interwoven pieces that come together to make a complex work of art or an orchestra in the pit as the actors work out the scene on stage.  In any case, I am appreciative of how all of what each of us does fits together to make educating students happen.  Thanks to all of you who have chosen to make a difference.  I see how you make a difference in the hopeful eyes of our kids each time I come to the schools.
I am proud to offer a few Portrait of Graduate examples this month.  I am always hard-pressed to pick just one or two to showcase which is a testament to the astounding work you all are doing.

Portrait work has always been about how we help our students learn to use these six life skills.  We know that they learn these things from the environments and people around them embodying those attributes and by having opportunities to practice demonstrating those skills.   Responsibility is when someone acts honestly and demonstrates the care of a larger community.  They honor their commitments and own their actions and in turn, earn trust and respect from others.    I had the opportunity to witness the environment that the second-grade teachers at Manzanita, Amy Lee, Amanda Lease, and Kaitlyn Whiteaker have built around their Daily 5.    The amount of community cooperation, personal responsibility, and perseverance that the students showed was amazing.  Congratulations to the three of them for their environmental and planning support for our Portrait skills within the classroom.
Adaptability is when someone can thrive in an environment of ambiguity while seeking feedback and criticism and all along build a balanced workable solution.  A Portrait shout-out goes to our District School Nurses (Amrit Kajla, Kristin Good & Nancy Stratton), LVN's (Cynthia Muncy & Yara West), and Office staff (Melinda Cole, Sabrina McGrane, Fabiola Harrington, Dina Hendry, Tram Ankeny, Mary Mauck, Megan Lewis, Leanna Avery, Jesika Williams, Kendra Gulbrantson, Louisa Williams, Jennifer Spain, Christie Balsom, Stephanie Kane, Shannon Elrod, Cassie Atkins, Pam DeOliviera, Ashley Costello, Lanora Bousfield, Debra Byrd, Becky Holmes, Shelley Marshall, Patty Lennon, Sarah Sevilla, Jennifer Williams, Patti Olson, Amber Dunlap, Marci Andersen, Allison Watters, Amanda Richmond) who have really been adapting to the ever-changing environments.  I am not sure if I have to explain all that these folks have been doing to keep us safe and communicate with our health officials.  They are certainly going above and beyond to make sure that we are taking the right precautions as well as answering large amounts of questions.
Have a great weekend,
Rob
