COVID-19 Update 3/31/2020

Spanish Version

Dear Redding School District Families,

I hope this letter finds you well. We are currently experiencing an unprecedented event due to the state, national, and global pandemic. When we started our closure, it was our plan to restart school after spring break. That plan is now on hold as the social distancing measures are still in place across California and Shasta County. Redding schools are moving forward into distance learning activities to better serve your child. At this time, there is no end date that I can give you for our distance learning strategy, but it is still our hope that we will be able to welcome your children back to our schools before the end of the school year. This will be communicated more clearly as we learn more information going forward. Redding School District looks forward to the day that each child is back in school for face-to-face instruction.

Beginning the week of April 14th, each student will be issued a grade level learning
packet. This packet will be collected at the end of each week and will be used by
teachers to check students’ understanding of the assigned work. The distribution and
collection of learning packets will take place on a regularly scheduled day and time
arranged by your child’s school. Your child’s school will be sharing the exact pick up
schedule as we will still be following distancing practices for packet pick up and
collection. Expect this information before this Friday, April 3, 2020.

Along with the learning packets, teachers are organizing a weekly schedule of
communication with each student or groups of students. Teachers will be connecting with each family in order to collaborate and share the exact day(s) of the week and the
time(s) the teacher will be supporting your child. In addition to these scheduled times,
there will be a general office hour in which parents and students can reach out with any questions. This can be through email, Class Dojo, or other means set forth by your child’s teacher. Be looking for this communication from your child’s teacher or school.

Together, we will navigate these unchartered waters. All of us at the Redding School District look forward to the day we can greet your children at our school doors with a smile to let them know that we missed them. Look at our “We Miss You” video that was put together by our staff. http://link.rsdnmp.net/wemissyou If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to leave a message at your child’s school. Someone will get back
to you as soon as possible.

Stay safe and be well,

Rob Adams

Superintendent
