Career Connections
Shasta County students need the career direction and inspiration that local businesses and their employees can provide. If you’re ready to help, we’ll make your investment meaningful and easy – and establish boundaries that respect your time and allow you and your employees to give back while remaining productive. From speaking in a classroom to mentoring students to taking on a hardworking intern, you’ll find something that works for you. You’ll make a lasting difference for members of our future workforce.
Shasta Promise
The Shasta Promise, in partnership with the North State Promise, takes the guesswork out of attending any of the six universities and colleges that have signed on. They are:
- CSU Chico
- Southern Oregon University
- Simpson University
- Shasta College
- College of the Siskiyous
- National University
Kindergarten Readiness
Kindergarten readiness prepares you to enroll your child in a preschool, helps them learn to read before school and teaches you to build healthy routines with your child.
High School Counseling
The purpose of the Reach Higher Shasta Counseling Initiative is to develop a systematic approach to high school counseling across the county so that no matter which high school a student attends, the student and the student’s family would receive the same college, career, and personal development information and support in grades 9-12 across all of the four participating districts.
K-3 Literacy
We are working to train all of our K-2 teachers across the county on the new Basic Phonics Skills. This Program assures that books get into the hands of youth in Shasta County. The goal is to assure that literacy is promoted and that children can read by the Third-grade marker.
College and Career Signing Day
This will be an event sponsored by RHS to highlight and spotlight a group of high school seniors from Shasta County high schools who have made plans to pursue some type of post high school training and/or education.
