Thank you to everyone who participated in the “District Food Challenge.”  A total of 2622    canned food items were donated to the Good News Rescue Mission so far!  A few more of our sites are tallying up their collection of canned food items which will add more to our total.  Special thanks to Igo-Ono School for starting the challenge and encouraging everyone to help our community.

Sundial Film Festival Film Chair Delcie Strahan reported the following:

I’m reaching out to encourage you to submit your current or recent projects to the Sundial Film Festival. We’re gearing up for another wonderful year featuring phenomenal films that highlight the best that the North State has to offer. We would love to include your work with the films being considered. As the deadline quickly approaches, please take a look at the commonly asked questions included below.

Are you ready to join us?
The ninth year of the Sundial Film Festival is coming up, and I’d like to remind you that submissions for feature-length films (up to 20 minutes in length) and one-minute short films are now open. We would love to have you and/or your friends, family or colleagues submit.  If your film is accepted for competition in the festival, it will be showcased at the Cascade Theater in Redding, California on March 4, 2017 for a chance (for feature films) to win up to $1,000.

Why should you submit your film?
The Sundial Film Festival is presented by the Active 20-30 Club of Redding, an international organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for the special needs of children in our community. Proceeds from the festival go directly to benefiting the underprivileged children in the Redding, California area.

What do you do when you’re ready to submit your film?

When you are ready to submit your film, please visit and check out the official rules for the festival, festival history, last year’s winners, and then click the “Submit” button to be directed to our submissions page on Film Freeway. The cost to submit is only $35 per film. All submissions must be received and paid for by January 3, 2017 to be considered.

What else can you do to support the Sundial Film Festival?
Please forward this information to anyone you know who might want to submit their film. Submissions will be judged by film professors in Los Angeles for a chance to win the $1,000 grand prize!

Each year, the festival grows and promises more talent, creating a fantastic day at the Cascade Theater. We look forward to seeing your submission be a part of it!

We are so thankful for our wonderful community support!  Once again, Redding East Rotary has selected families from the Redding School District schools to receive Christmas Baskets filled with enough food to feed a family of six.  Thanks to our Office Managers and Principals for providing names of families who will benefit from this gift.

Shasta Union Elementary School received a generous donation from parent Sean MaHannah in the amount of $11,282.  Mr. MaHannah has a TK student at Shasta and owns a business in town called Ecogreen Industries, LLC.  There is a need for improvements to the kindergarten playground at Shasta, and Mr. MaHannah wanted to help.
